Admissions

Spectators are allowed at this event. Admission fees are as follows:

Ages 4 & Under: Free
Ages 5 & Up: $5.00

Time

8:00am – 9:00am – Registration
8:30am – Coach & Official’s meeting 
9:00am  – Competition begins

9:00am – Weapons all ages, all ranks
9:00am – Teams forms all ages, all ranks

9:45am – Staging for all students 12 & under

*Black Belts will be asked to assist with judging

Events

Forms, Team forms, Point Sparring, Weapons, and Breaking.

Breaking: participants will need to supply their own boards.

Wood should be 1″ x 12″ number 2 pine cut into the following: All wood must be consistent and proper in size. NO Demo wood will be allowed.

• Children ages 3-6 Must use 4″ wood
• Children ages 7-12 Must use 6″ wood
• Children and Adults ages 13 & Up Must use 12″ wood

White to Orange Belts will break 1 board.
Green & Blue Belts will break 2 boards.
Red, Brown & Black Belts will break 3 boards.
**Please note boards may be inspected before competition begins.

**This is a fun event. Please understand we will not be following USAT, AAU Rules.

NOTE: Forms will be adjusted to accommodate all styles. Divisions may be added or combined at the tournament director’s discretion if they are too large or too small.

Belt Determination

Novice:  10th Gup to 7th Gup
Intermediate:  6th Gup to 4th Gup
Advanced:  3rd Gup to 1st Gup

Age Determining Date

January 27, 2024 (day of competition)

Awards sponsored by Grinnell Mutual

Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each division. All athletes 13 & Under will receive a participation medal. A sportsmanship award will be awarded to the school or individual for overall contribution to the tournament; including participation, judging and good sportsmanship.

T-shirts

Registration includes a cotton t-shirt. Athletes have the option to upgrade their cotton shirt to a dri-fit shirt for an additional $12.00 until January 2.

Tentative times for competition (could change based on attendance) 

9:00 AM – weapons all ages all ranks
9:00 AM – Team forms all ages all ranks
9:30 AM – Ages 5-12 forms, point sparring and breaking
11:30 AM – Juniors ages 13-17 forms, point sparring and breaking
1:30 PM – Adult 18 and up forms, point sparring and breaking
