Horseshoes will be divided into 6-person classes. Athletes will be placed in the classes according to their abilities (ringer percentage). Within each class, competition will consist of round robin single matches. Games will be 40 point cancellation or 40 or 50-shoe games. Count all may be used in some classes. All athletes should check-in at the horseshoe courts by 9:00 am the day of competition, unless otherwise notified. Competition may begin at that time. Pitchers are responsible for bringing their own horseshoes.
Those pitchers who belong to the Iowa Hawkeye Horseshoe Association (IHHPA) will use their percentage. Others must qualify by throwing 100 shoes to determine their percentage. These can be thrown at various locations statewide.
Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded in each division.
Athletes receive a cotton t-shirt with their entry fee. For $12, athletes can upgrade to a dri-fit shirt during registration. The deadline to order a dri-fit is June 16.
Athletes can pick up their shirts at Sukup South End Zone Club at Jack Trice Stadium. Access to Sukup End Zone is from University Boulevard.
