2024 State Games of America

Competition Format

A player may enter one singles, one doubles and one mixed doubles event for the entry fee.

Each member of a doubles team must complete an entry form and pay the entry fee. If playing doubles, all players must indicate who their partner is on the entry form. Individuals wishing to be assigned a doubles partner should indicate ‘Need Partner’ on entry form. The tournament director will attempt to assign a partner.

Shuttlecocks will be provided by the Iowa Games

Age Determining Date

Saturday, July 15, 2023 

*High School Divisions are based off the 2022-2023 school year. Age is as of September 15, 2022.

Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded to top three finishers in each division.

T-shirts

Athletes receive a cotton t-shirt with their entry fee. For $12, athletes can upgrade to a dri-fit shirt during registration. The deadline to order a dri-fit is June 18. 

Athletes can pick up their shirts at Sukup South End Zone Club at Jack Trice Stadium. Access to Sukup End Zone is from University Boulevard. (MAP)

Friday, July 14: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Saturday, July 15: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Sunday, July 16: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Division Criteria

Open – Has played indoor competitive badminton in local, regional, or national tournaments and plays more than once a week on a regular basis.  Participants registering in the Open division must indicate their skill level A, B, C, or D.

Recreational – Players badminton at a club or gym once in a while or plays for fun and exercise with little or no experience.   No open players.  If you have won a medal in a past Iowa Games badminton tournament you must play in the Open division.

Senior – Must be 50 years of age or older by July 31, 2021 (TBD for 2023)

High School – Must be 14 – 18 years of age by September 15, 2022

Youth – Must be  9 – 13 years of age by September 15, 2022

Family Recreational – Relative, male or female (recreational player with youth player age 9 – 13, male or female)  No Open players.

Entry fees are for the first event. Each event after that is an additional $5.
