Qualifying Event
All Iowans are eligible to participate!
T-shirts
Athletes will receive a colored T-shirt for their entry fee. Pre-registered athletes may upgrade their cotton shirt for a dri-fit for an additional $12 through June 23.
T-shirt pick up will be located indoors at the Sukup South Endzone at Jack Trice Stadium. Access to Sukup Endzone is from University Boulevard. Hours are:
Friday, July 30: 12:00 PM – 7:30 PM
Saturday, July 31: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Sunday, August 1: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Competition Format
A player may enter one singles, one doubles and one mixed doubles event for the entry fee.
Each member of a doubles team must complete an entry form and pay the entry fee. If playing doubles, all players must indicate who their partner is on the entry form. Individuals wishing to be assigned a doubles partner should indicate ‘Need Partner’ on entry form. The tournament director will attempt to assign a partner.
Shuttlecocks will be provided by the Iowa Games

Age Determining Date

*High School Divisions are based off the 2021-2022 school year. Age is as of September 15, 2021.

Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded to top three finishers in each division.
Division Criteria
Open – Has played indoor competitive badminton in local, regional, or national tournaments and plays more than once a week on a regular basis. Participants registering in the Open division must indicate their skill level A, B, C, or D.
Recreational – Players badminton at a club or gym once in a while or plays for fun and exercise with little or no experience. No open players. If you have won a medal in a past Iowa Games badminton tournament you must play in the Open division.
Senior – Must be 50 years of age or older by July 31, 2021
High School – Must be 14 – 18 years of age by September 15, 2021
Youth – Must be 9 – 13 years of age by September 15, 2021
Family Recreational – Relative, male or female (recreational player with youth player age 9 – 13, male or female) No Open players.
