All players must be ready to play promptly at 8:30am.
At this time we will introduce you to your teams and you will quickly pick doubles partners, and determine who will play which matches throughout the day.

2026 QUALIFYING EVENT
Competition Format
All players will be divided into 4-6 teams. Players will compete against players on other teams to earn points for their team throughout the tournament. We will match players against each other based on skill, though points can be earned even in losing matches ensuring healthy competition throughout the day. Players on the 3 highest scoring teams will be awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals. Please register for 1, 2, or 3 events based on your desired number of matches and which events you would most like to play (expect ~2-4 matches per “event”). See the recreational section under “Division Criteria” below. If you register for Recreational Mixed, please indicate when registering whether you prefer to play 3-4 or 5+ matches.
Shuttlecocks will be provided by the Iowa Games

Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded to top three finishers in each division.
Division Criteria
Open – Has played indoor competitive badminton in local, regional, or national tournaments and plays more than once a week on a regular basis. Participants registering in the Open division must indicate their skill level A, B, C, or D.
Recreational – Plays badminton at a club or gym once in a while or plays for fun and exercise with little or no experience. No open players. If you have won a medal in a past badminton tournament you must play in the Open division. Youth and elderly players can register here, along with 18-55yr olds hoping to play less competitively.

Registration Deadlines
$25 if registered by May 1
$30 if registered between May 2 – June 2
$35 if registered between June 3 – July 7
No on-site registrations will be allowed
Athletes can sign up for one event for the entry fee. Each additional event after that is $5.
Athletes receive a cotton t-shirt with their entry fee. For $12, athletes can upgrade to a dri-fit shirt during registration. The deadline to order a shirt is June 26.
Players will not designate doubles or mixed doubles partners in advance.
