Summer Iowa Games Athlete Jamboree Receives 2015 Ames Community Grant

AMES, IOWA, July 9, 2015 – The Summer Iowa Games will again hold their Olympic-style event in Ames! The games bring over 14,000 athletes to the area to compete in over 50 sporting events. The competition begins each year with the Athlete Jamboree. This event brings athletes, their families, coaches and the community together to participate in a variety of activities and entertainment. The kick off includes inflatable games, photo booth, performances by national and local talent, and autograph signing by former ISU and NFL quarterback, Seneca Wallace. Funds will be used for entertainment, signage and performance staging. The Athlete Jamboree is followed by the Iowa Games Opening Ceremony in Jack Trice Stadium. This year’s event will be held on Friday, July 17 from 5-7 p.m. For more information, visit www.iowagames.org

About the Ames Community Grant Program:
For 2015, the Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau awarded a total of $46,500 in funding on behalf of the Ames Community Grant Program to assist local businesses and organizations in promoting and implementing 27 special events and projects in the Ames area. The Ames Community Grant Program has awarded more than $470,000 to help fund nearly 200 events and projects since 2007. The grant program supports a variety of cultural, educational, athletic, environmental, and art events and activities. Grants are awarded for events or projects with the intent to attract new visitors to the Ames area, enhance visitor experiences and improve the quality of life for area residents.
