Iowa Games Athletes Donate to the Iowa Food Bank Association

Iowa Games Athletes Donate to the Iowa Food Bank AssociationThe Iowa Games recently made a $3,967.40 donation to the Iowa Food Bank Association at Terrace Hill in Des Moines.

Throughout 2015, Iowa Games athletes and fans made donations through online registration and purchase of Iowa Games Opening Ceremony tickets.

“For the second consecutive year, Iowans did not disappoint through their donations,” commented Kim Abels, sports and special events director.

“We are proud of our participants for stepping up to the plate and are thrilled with the donation which will provide over 15,000 meals to Iowans who are food insecure.”

There are 12% or roughly 389,000 Iowans who are food insecure. A one dollar donation to food banks provides four meals for hungry families.

In 2014, Iowa Games athletes donated over $3,600 to the Iowa Food Bank Association. This year’s increased donation will serve more than 1,400 meals than the previous year.

Partnership with the Iowa Food Bank Association, was made possible through Iowa Games presenting sponsor, the Iowa Food and Family Project.
