Competition Format

All singles events are round robin. Round robin winners advance to single elimination play. Each match is best of 5 games; games to 11, must win by 2. All doubles events are single elimination.

Rules

All USATT rules apply to the championship events and the commissioner reserves the right to apply these rules to any other event. All divisions will use the 40mm plastic, white Nittaku ball.

Sport Specific Information

An athlete is not eligible for the beginner level if he/she has previously won a medal in the event.

Male players may compete in 3 events for the entry fee.

  • one age-restricted singles event,
  • beginner singles, intermediate singles, or championship singles
  • in addition to the above, he may enter one doubles event

Female players may compete in 4 events for the entry fee.

  • one age-restricted singles event,
  • beginner singles, intermediate singles, or championship singles
  • women’s singles
  • in addition to the above, she may enter one doubles event

Beginner singles eligibility criteria

  • never won a medal in the beginner singles event in either the Winter Games or Summer Games
  • USATT rating must be below 1,000
  • Ratings Central rating must be below 900

Intermediate singles eligibility criteria

  • USATT rating must be below 1,500
  • Ratings Central rating must be below 1,300

The table tennis commissioner has the right to determine what event the athlete qualifies for.

Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded in each division.

T-shirts

Athletes receive a cotton t-shirt with their entry fee. For $12, athletes can upgrade to a dri-fit shirt during registration. The deadline to order a dri-fit is June 16. 

Athletes can pick up their shirts at Sukup South End Zone Club at Jack Trice Stadium. Access to Sukup End Zone is from University Boulevard.

The Iowa Games reserves the right to combine divisions based on registration numbers.

Registration Deadlines

$20 if registered by May 1
$25 if registered between May 2 – June 3
$30 if registered between June 4 – July 8

Dri-Fit Upgrade Deadline ($12): June 16

Entry fee includes one event. Each additional event is $5.
Each member of a doubles team must complete a separate Individual entry form, pay the entry fee, and indicate on the individual entry form who their doubles partner will be.

Spectator Admissions will be taken at the event. Spectators can pre-purchase admission by clicking HERE or admission can be purchased on-site.
