The Snowshoe Rae will happen regardless of the incoming storm. Listed below are Plans A, B and C for the Snowshoe Race:

Plan A: We get 4+ inches of snow - We will be using snowshoes on the trails in Ingawanis Woodland. Please park next to and check-in at Eagle Lodge.

Plan B: We get a small amount of snow and rain/sleet/ice - We will run on the gravels outside Ingawanis Woodland. You are welcome to bring traction control devices in case the gravels are icy. Please park next to and check-in at Eagle Lodge.

Plan C: We got mostly rain - The trails harden up. We will run on the trails, trail-run style. Please park next to and check-in at Eagle Lodge. 

**Please be ready for all contingencies. We will be posting as soon as the storm passes and we have more information. The quickest updates will be found at Hartman Reserve's Facebook page.


Racers can stay and enjoy a hot meal and learn more about the Bremer County Nature Alliance or you can take your post race calories to go! We'll have a winter picnic while enjoying a warm campfire, winter activities, refreshments, and more courtesy of the Bremer County Nature Alliance and Bremer County Conservation Board.

Competition Format

The Iowa Games welcomes the growing sport of snowshoeing! The event will take place at the Ingawanis Woodland Park, Janesville, IA. A 5k and 10k events will be offered and run on a variety of snow surfaces including: packed, powder, and single track. Snowshoes are available if needed.

The 5k is a qualifying race for the 2017 Junior Snowshoe National Championships (Eua Claire, Wisconsin)
The 10k is a qualifying race for the 2017 Senior Snowshoe National Championships (Eua Claire, Wisconsin)

A 2 Mile, Family Fun Hike will take place for families wanting to experience the outdoors and snowshoeing. Registrations will only be accepted onsite the morning of the event and will be $15/family.
