Athletes who are
a USAT member will
need to collect
their USAT number
prior to the
competition.
Athletes who are not
a USAT member will
need to pay an
additional $5 fee
and sign a waiver at
the pre-race
registration.
Competition Format
Course will consist
of the following:
Short
course (7-10 years
old)
100 yard swim
2 mile bike
1 mile run
Long course
(11-17 years old)
200 yard swim
4 mile bike
2 mile run
Rules
USA Triathlon Rules
will be followed. This
is a sanctioned
race. Note:
Helmets must be worn
during the cycling
portion of the
competition. For
safety reasons, no
headphones/ipods
etc. will be allowed
on any part of the
course.
Age Determining Date
December 31, 2010
Bib Numbers
Bib numbers will be
issued at packet pickup
on Saturday or
Sunday
Timing Chips
Timing chips will be
issued on-site
during check-in on
the day of
competition only.
Awards Ceremony
All participants
will receive a medal
for finishing the
race. Iowa Games
medals will be
provided to the top
three athletes in
each age group for
male and female.
Course Description
SWIM:
The
swimming portion of the event takes place in the new Furman
Aquatic center. Resting on the side of the pool or lane
line is allowed. Since the pool is 50 yards short course
participants will swim down and back and the longer course
participants will swim down and back twice.
BIKE:
The biking portion
of the triathlon
starts from the
Aquatic Center
parking lot and
follows a trail to
the north where it
access some
residential streets.
Participants doing
the short course
will do 1 loop on
the street section
and long course
participants will do
three loops of the
street section.
RUN:
The running portion
of the race follows
a multiuse trail to
the west and is an
out and back
course. Short
course is 1 mile and
long course is 2
miles.
Iowa Games will not be sending
triathlon information
in the mail.
