left to Peterson Park. Or take Hwy 69 approx. four miles north
of Ames, then east on 180th St.)

Format
Cross country racing on approximately 5 miles
of technical single track with curves and drops. The trails
at Peterson Park also consist of rolling hills, open fields
and sand. Multiple laps will be used for different ability
levels. Number of laps will be determined the day of the event
according to trail conditions and participation. Organizer
reserves the right to combine categories if necessary. Athletes
should bring water and/or water containers.
Categories
Beginner: This category is designed for the entry-level
rider. Beginner races help participants understand the subtleties
of the sport and experience the thrill of mountain biking.
Sport: This racing category reflects improved skills
and developed strength and stamina. Sport entrants are often
intermediate regional competitors. Expert: At this
level racing skills, strength and stamina have reached an
exceptional level; racing is very competitive.
Awards
Medals for first, second and third will be
given in each age group and category. Single-speed entrants
are encouraged to notify race officials upon check-in and
will be recognized accordingly.

General Rules
All riders must wear helmets. Protests
must be filed in writing within 30 minutes of posting results.
Intentionally competing below your endurance level to potentially
place will NOT be allowed.

Entry Fee
One entry fee of $23.00 will enable the
athlete to enter both cycling events, as well as the
mountain biking competition. The athlete MUST
pre-register for all
events in order to
compete for the $23
entry fee, otherwise
they must purchase
entry at the on-site
registration fee. Please list all event codes on one entry
form to speed the entry process. On-site registrations will be accepted
at mountain biking ($25/event), time trial ($30/event) and
road race for ($25/event). Pre-registration is
preferred for all races.
Volunteers
To provide a quality competition, volunteers
are needed to help with timing, course-marshaling, check-in,
security, etc. Additional help is needed the day before the
race to set up the race course. Please call the mountain biking
commissioner for more information. REMEMBER: Free T-shirts
will be provided to all volunteers.
