This is an open course event, meaning that participants must share the road with traffic. For safety, helmets must be worn during the cycling portion of the competition and no headphones/iPods will be allowed on any part of the course. Participants should leave their running shoes in the transition area.
*No swim clinic will be offered this year*
Course will consist of the following:
Swim - Open water, distance of 1/4 mile

Run - 5K
Triathlon Federation USA Rules will be followed, with the right to make exceptions. This is not a sanctioned race. Note: Helmets must be worn during the cycling portion of the competition. For safety reasons, no headphones/iPods etc. will be allowed on any part of the course.
Wetsuits will not be allowed if the water temperature is above 78 degrees on race day.

Age 50 & Over - Iowa Senior Games
The Iowa Games and Iowa Senior Games have partnered to offer athletes ages 50 & over a unique opportunity. When you register for the Summer Iowa Games triathlon, you will automatically be included in the Iowa Senior Games. In addition to the Iowa Games T-shirt, athletes will receive an Iowa Senior Games t-shirt and an Iowa Senior Games medal (top 3 places per age division only). If you wish to participate in additional Iowa Senior Games sports, contact the Iowa Senior Games for how to register.
Age Determining Date
December 31, 2017
Athletes will receive a dri-fit shirt.
Medals sponsored by Grinnell Mutual
Gold, silver and bronze medals awarded in each age division.
True Time Racing Service will chip time the event. Chips will be distributed with packets.

Volunteers will check in at the packet pick shelter where you'll receive your shirt and further instructions.

Packet Pick Up - 1:30 - 5:00 PM
Job duties - handout race packets & t-shirts to participants, stuffing race packets with materials, etc. This packet pick-up will be held at Exile Brewery. Please see the events page for address.
Sunday, July 9 (all at Big Creek)
Packet Pick Up & Refreshments - 5:45 - 10:30 am
Job duties: handout race packets & t-shirts to participants, help set up refreshments and monitor refreshment area
Swim Exit Counter - 7:45 - 9:00 am
Job duties: count swimmers as they exit the water to make sure all are accounted for.
Course Support - 7:00 - 11:00 am
Job duties: help direct participants and assist with other needs along the course.
Water Station (run course) - 7:00 - 11:00 am
Job duties: help athletes get water, may need to direct athletes as they approach if there are multiple.
