Competition Format

Iowa Games Youth Soccer offers Recreational, Open and Competitive divisions*.
Round robin play. Semi-final, consolation and championship games will be the same length as preliminary games. NOTE: Not all divisions/subdivisions will playoff for medals. Some medals will be awarded based on the results of bracket play.  The Iowa Games reserves the right to combine divisions, alter field/goal sizes if need be.

6U & 8U will be played as a jamboree format.  No scores or standings will be kept.

*9U-14U competitive teams may not enter the 'Open' division, Open division is for recreational players only! No ISL - competitive - players may guest play on a recreational team. No ISL multiple rostered players may play on a recreational team either even though they are on the regular season roster.

*Teams registering for the Recreation Division must submit their official rosters to the Iowa Games for review.

Referee Requirements

For the FIRST time in 30 years the Iowa Games will be paying soccer officials.
Providing names of officials is no longer required, however we still request your help to build our officials database.  If you know anyone that would be interested in being a paid referee at the Iowa Games youth soccer tournament, please include the information below during registration or contact katie.kramer@iowagames.org or 888.777.8881 x 103.  Help us make this the best year for Iowa Games soccer.

Age Determining Date

New age determining requirements for 2017.  Iowa Soccer is now following a birth year matrix for the 2016-2017 season.

T-shirts

Athletes will receive a colored T-shirt.  T-shirt pick up will be located in parking lot S6 on the campus of Iowa State University. Parking lot S6 is located east of Jack Trice Stadium; access to lot S6 is from University Boulevard. Coaches will receive a printout that indicates T-shirt sizes for each player at pick-up. T-shirt exchanges (while supply lasts) can be made starting Sunday.  

Pre-registered athletes have the option to upgrade their t-shirt to a dri-fit for an additional $10.

Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded in each division.

6U & 8U.  All players will receive an Iowa Games participation medal.
