Competition format
Events will begin with the youngest age division and progress through all age divisions. Female contestants in each age division will compete first, followed by the male contestants in that age division. In all track events, heats will be run with the best time determining the final placing (except 100 M Dash). Only the 100 M dash will be listed in heats.

Volunteers
Track and Field has the largest number of individual athletes. As a result, many volunteers are needed to time, judge, mark field events, etc. Please help ensure a quality event and volunteer. Call the Ames Convention and Visitors Bureau at 1.800.288.7470. Get a T-shirt for helping!

ALL FIELD EVENTS WILL BEGIN AT 8:30AM, RUNNING EVENTS AT 9:30AM.
WE WILL RUN ALL GIRLS HEATS FIRST IN EACH RACE, THEN THE BOYS HEATS GOING YOUNGEST TO OLDEST AGE DIVISIONS.
4 x 100 Relay and 4 x 400m Relay - Please pick up a RELAY CARD from the finish line and turn it into the clerk at check in for these events. Athletes must all be in the same age group/gender or they must run in the age group of their oldest runner on the relay team.
High Jump - The bar will start at 2' 6" and go up in 2" increments. All Jumpers should check in at 8:30am and inform the official what height they plan to start jumping at, and then enter the event when the bar is at their chosen height when their name is called. Girls and Boys will all jump together, and the bar will not be lowered for any athlete missing their starting height.
Shot Put - All warmup throws must be done in the practice rings, no warmups will be given in the competition ring once your age group is called.
Awards will be given at the completion of the event at the throws venue.
Awards - All Awards for Running Events/Long Jump/High Jump can be picked behind the press box once those results are annouced. All Shot and Discus awards will be distributed at the throws venue upon completion of each flight.
